The Bible says:
- 1 Corinthians 15:3-4 “Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, and that He was buried, and that He rose again the third day according to the Scriptures.”
- Romans 5:8 “But God demonstrates His own love for us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”
- John 3:16 “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.”
Because Jesus loves you so much, He took the punishment for you so that you can be forgiven.
C – Choose
Choose to trust Jesus alone for the forgiveness of your sins.
The Bible says:
- Romans 10:13 “Whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved.”

Bible Verses About Salvation: 20 Important Scriptures
There are many Bible verses about salvation in both the Old and New Testament, being mentioned more than 40 times.
We find the word salvation in the context of military battles in the Old Testament, and in the spiritual sense in the New Testament. In them, we find the beauty, uniqueness, and what kind of heart will receive it, and the nature of God’s salvation.
Besides eternal salvation, the Bible also teaches us salvation in the context of our daily troubles as king David did, and welcomes us to ask for to save us for any particular, worldly predicament. So, let us take a look at those now.
Table of Contents
Here Are 20 Important Bible Verses About Salvation:
1. Exodus 14:13-14:
13 “And Moses said to the people, “Do not be afraid. Stand still, and see the salvation of the Lord, which He will accomplish for you today. For the Egyptians whom you see today, you shall see again no more forever. 14 The Lord will fight for you, and you shall hold your peace.”
In Bible verses such as this one, salvation is also translated as “deliverance”, which in this context involved rescuing from the Egyptian re-capturing of the Israelites.
2. 2 Chronicles 20:17:
17 “You will not need to fight in this battle. Position yourselves, stand still and see the salvation of the Lord, who is with you, O Judah and Jerusalem!’ Do not fear or be dismayed; tomorrow go out against them, for the Lord is with you.”
This Bible verse is also one example in which we find the word salvation used in the context of military battles, in a battle between Israel and the Moabites and Ammonites, typical adversaries of Israel.
3. Psalm 18:1-2:
1 “I will love You, O Lord, my strength. 2 The Lord is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer; My God, my strength, in whom I will trust; My shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold. 3 I will call upon the Lord, who is worthy to be praised;
So shall I be saved from my enemies.”
In this Bible verse, remembering that David was a warrior, and he faced hard situations, it is powerful that the way in which he trusted in God’s salvation in situations where his life was in jeopardy. He trusted God with his life, and this is powerful and can inspire us to trust God more.
4. Psalm 27:1:
1 “The Lord is my light and my salvation; Whom shall I fear? The Lord is the strength of my life; Of whom shall I be afraid?”
In this Bible verse we find another reiteration the deep trust in God that was in David’s heart. It teaches us to absolutely fear no man in our lives.
5. Psalm 62:5-6:
5 “My soul, wait silently for God alone, for my expectation is from Him. 6 He only is my rock and my salvation; He is my defense;
I shall not be moved.”
Besides awaiting God’s salvation in our troubles, this Psalm teaches us one great important thing: patience. This is one great Bible verse regarding patience and trust when we need deliverance in any particular predicament.
6. Psalm 88:1:
1 “O Lord, God of my salvation, I have cried out day and night before You. 2 Let my prayer come before You; Incline Your ear to my cry.”
In Psalms such as this one, we see very real struggles from ordinary men, who faced issues jut like us. They teach us one important element: Constant prayer while waiting for God to save us from our predicaments. Definitely, while waiting with trust and patience for Christ to deliver us from our troubles, let us be like the Psalmist and continue to pray.
7. Psalm 149:4:
4 “For the Lord takes pleasure in His people; He will beautify the humble with salvation.”
This Bible verse is beautiful as it expresses how much God loves the humble, as it states he will “beautify” them with his salvation. Definitely, in obtaining salvation, humility is an important virtue whose importance cannot be overlooked.
8. Lamentations 3:25-26:
25 “The Lord is good to those who wait for Him, to the soul who seeks Him. 26 It is good that one should hope and wait quietly for the salvation of the Lord.”
This another great Scripture emphasizing patience, and if we remember the particular historical circumstances in which Lamentations was written (Israel’s very precarious circumstances), we will become very inspired.
9. Matthew 7:15-18:
15 “Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravenous wolves. 16 You will know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes from thornbushes or figs from thistles? 17 Even so, every good tree bears good fruit, but a bad tree bears bad fruit. 18 A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, nor can a bad tree bear good fruit.”
This Bible verse is both beautiful and very important because it teaches us how to recognize who is saved and who is not saved. In a time when many masquerade as Christians, it will be important to recognize who is truly saved and who isn’t, so learning from this one is also salient.

10. John 4:21-22:
21 “Jesus said to her, “Woman, believe Me, the hour is coming when you will neither on this mountain, nor in Jerusalem, worship the Father. 22 You worship what you do not know; we know what we worship, for salvation is of the Jews.”
Other translations of this Scripture state “salvation comes from the Jews”, which means that God used the Jews as the cradle in which to bring salvation to the world.
11. Acts 4:12:
12 “Nor is there salvation in any other, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.”
Similar to John 14:6, this Bible verse states the uniqueness of the Saviorship of Christ, and is one of the most importance Scriptures on salvation. It states that no Buddha, no Mohammed, or anyone else is the one that can bring salvation and happiness to the world. This nullifies all of those who have made similar claims.12. Romans 1:16:
16 “For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes, for the Jew first and also for the Greek.”
As Christians, it is important to never be shy or ashamed to share the gospel as several are. We can pray to overcome shyness, and we should never be ashamed.
13. Ephesians 2:8-9:
8 “For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, 9 not of works, lest anyone should boast.”
This Bible verse is salient as we can see how salvation works, and it is an important theological point to learn, and mistakes have been made in history due to lack of knowledge regarding this Bible verse.
It expresses how salvation does not come due to being “good people”, but instead it consists of a freely-given gift. In essence, it states that being a good person, having done “good things in life does not get someone into heaven.
14. Romans 10:9:
9 “That if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.”
This is one of most important Bible verses about salvation, and it is also referenced as the Bible verse to be saved. But as the next Scripture says, it requires an earnest heart.
15. 2 Corinthians 7:9-10:
9 “Now I rejoice, not that you were made sorry, but that your sorrow led to repentance. For you were made sorry in a godly manner, that you might suffer loss from us in nothing. 10 For godly sorrow produces repentance leading to salvation, not to be regretted; but the sorrow of the world produces death.”
As James 1:21 states, an open, earnest heart is a requirement for receiving the word of God in the way that leads to salvation. This leads to true sorrow for sin, which leads to true repentance. Sorrow that is mostly superficial can’t lead to salvation, so this is an important Bible verse.
16. Titus 3:4-7:
4 “But when the kindness and the love of God our Savior toward man appeared, 5 not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to His mercy He saved us, through the washing of regeneration and renewing of the Holy Spirit, 6 whom He poured out on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Savior, 7 that having been justified by His grace we should become heirs according to the hope of eternal life.”
This beautiful Bible verse is a reiteration of Ephesians 2:8-9, and again epitomizes that we have been saved not by things which the world thinks make someone “a good person”, but by God’s freely-given gift.
17. Mark 16:15-16:
15 “And He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature. 16 He who believes and is baptized will be saved; but he who does not believe will be condemned.”
This Bible verse is important as it contains the commandment of the Great Commission; it’s not optional for every Christian to share his or her faith in Christ with others, and to look for the best opportunity to do so as well.
18. Matthew 19:23-25:
23 “Then Jesus said to His disciples, “Assuredly, I say to you that it is hard for a rich man to enter the kingdom of heaven. 24 And again I say to you, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God.” 25 When His disciples heard it, they were greatly astonished, saying, “Who then can be saved?”
This Bible verse depicts a powerful truth, which is the one particular segment of the population who is unfortunately less likely to be saved than others. Because of the inherent traits of those who hold wealth, such as less humility, it is more difficult for them to obtain salvation.
19. Luke 9:55:
55 “But He turned and rebuked them, and said, “You do not know what manner of spirit you are of. 56 For the Son of Man did not come to destroy men’s lives but to save them.” And they went to another village.”
This Bible verse is important as it shows God’s mercy towards all of mankind, even when they don’t glorify Him. He will still give them a chance to be saved. Praise Him for that.
20. James 5:20:
19 “Brethren, if anyone among you wanders from the truth, and someone turns him back, 20 let him know that he who turns a sinner from the error of his way will save a soul from death and cover a multitude of sins.”
Concluding this list is one with one beautiful, important theme: no indifference. It embodies that we should have no indifference to the actions of our neighbors; whenever we can save them, we should. If we have the opportunity to do even a small thing and let someone know (whether believer or not) what is the right thing to do in any situation according to God’s word, the Bible tells us this can make a difference.
