What is Salvation?

The word salvation is used in the context of religions to describe the process of being saved from an undesired situation or condition, usually from some form of evil. It is also often synonymous with “deliverance” from sin and guilt. Salvation can be seen as a form of freedom to be saved from eternal damnation.

The word “salvation” comes from the Latin word salvatio, meaning “safe”. In Christianity, one’s faith in God is essential for attaining salvation. Jesus Christ shed his blood and died on the cross for humanity’s sins in order to release us from our guilt and shame through an act of grace by God.

In Ephesians 1:8-9 it reads, “For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God; not as a result of works, that no one should boast.”
