The Bible shows a clear path to eternal life.
- First, we must know that we have sinned against God: “For all have sinned, and fall short of the glory of God” (Romans 3:23). We have all displeased God, which makes us partakers of punishment. Because we have all sinned infinitely against God, for which only eternal punishment is sufficient. “For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord” (Romans 3:23).
-
Therefore, Jesus Christ, having committed no sin (1 Peter 2:22), became man, the eternal Son of God (1 John 1:1,14). He died to pay the wages of our sins. “But God showed his love in this, that while we were still sins, Christ died for us” (Romans 5:8). Jesus Christ died on the cross (John 19:31-42), taking away the sin of which we were partakers (2 Corinthians 5:21). After three days He rose from the dead (1 Corinthians 15:1-4), victorious over sin and death. “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! By His great grace we are born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead (1 Peter 1:3).
By faith, we must change our minds—who He is, what He did for salvation, and why (Acts 3:19). If we put our faith in Him, He paid the price for our sins on the cross, trusting in His death alone, our sins will be forgiven and we can receive the promise of eternal life in heaven. “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life” (John 3:16). “For if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved” (Romans 10:9). Faith in Jesus’ finished work on the cross is the only true way to eternal life. “
If you want to accept Jesus Christ as your Savior and ask God to forgive you of your sins, you can pray this simple prayer. Praying this or any other prayer will not save you. Only by believing in Jesus Christ will you be saved from your sins. This prayer is simply to express your faith in the Lord and thank him for saving you. “Lord, I know that I have sinned against you, and deserve to be punished. But Jesus Christ suffered the punishment I deserved, so that I could be forgiven by faith in Him. I put my trust in you for salvation. Thank you for your amazing grace and forgiveness! Amen!”
