The Privileges of the King
- Psalm 21
“O Lord, the king will rejoice in your strength, and how much he will rejoice in your salvation.” We are now kings in Christ’s kingdom. When Jesus succeeded in redeeming people, He took people out of darkness and placed them in His own kingdom of light. All believers saved by Christ are now declared kings and priests. One of the characteristics of a king is the privilege of rejoicing in the Lord’s power. Many times we see a drunkard freed from his bonds, and prisoners led by the binding power of God’s power. We see those loose teenagers being born again and being upheld by the power of God. If we could see all the past, present and future sins of hundreds of Christians, we would greatly rejoice in the power of God, which cleanses them and declares their righteousness. Psalm 21 continues like this: God gives us like a king, according to the desires of our hearts. We are captured and led, and indeed that is the desire of our hearts. He has risen supernaturally on special occasions, and has filled our lives with joy, “You have put more joy in my heart than the increase of their grain and their wine. (Psalm 4:7) When we delight ourselves in the Lord; He will give according to the desires of our hearts. Whatever the request, He will fulfill that precious desire by Himself. He is faithful in the fellowship to which He has called us. He will not withhold the request of our tongue. Our words are very close to him in the presence of his heavenly sanctuary. It is His joy to give us the kingdom, to do “exceeding all that we ask and think.” (Ephesians 3:20)
