Welcome to today’s devotion.
Blessing the blessed
- Genesis 12:1-3
God – The subject of appointed leadership is very important. Adam did not like to obey it. Personality struggles make it difficult to accept this as a life-giving principle in Christ. And because of Adam’s cursed condition it produces misunderstandings and problems. This topic says Adam’s misunderstanding of humanity. It goes far beyond, and takes us into the truth of God’s provision. Many leaders do not dare to teach this subject and other subjects because they become insecure about the consequences. This subject is a ritual or method by which God will bless a person.
In Genesis 12:1-3, we read three verses that cover God’s choosing and blessing a person, as well as God’s use of a person as an instrument to bless other people. “I will make you a great nation. I will bless you. Your name will be made great, and you will be a blessing.” God is emphasizing one person, Abraham. It was a great personal promise; It was not given to 500 people like Abraham, but it was given to Abraham. Even further, God continues to give, and says, “I will bless those who bless you; And whoever curses you, I will curse.” In this personal principle of God’s program, people must realize the divine uniqueness. Remember, there were no conditions on the basis of Abraham’s life. Abraham became blessed because of God’s election toward grace according to foreknowledge.
We should also be careful about such true doctrines, because they are repeated in the New Testament. Are you hanging on to self-independence without truly accepting and blessing the one God has sent?
