Welcome to today’s devotion.
The Joy of His Will
- Ephesians 1:5
God the Father delights in taking a stranger, a stranger, and making him an adopted son through the redeeming blood of His Son for the purposes of His plan. Just as a father rejoices at the birth of his first child, God the Father rejoices at our birth into His kingdom. He is making it with His family, the Son and the Holy Spirit. The Son is bringing his bride; The Father is building his family; And the Holy Spirit is giving form to a body.
Our experience is with each member of the Trinity in the perfect unity of God’s plan. Therefore, the trials of our lives are now explained in terms of a threefold purpose. They are used not only to glorify God by faith but to glorify Christ in us, as His faithful bride, as an obedient saint to the Father, as a member of the body that reveals the Triune God.
When we sin, (God forbid), we are losing this life more than ourselves. We lose the joy of family relationships. We do not share in the companionship of our bridegroom’s love. We seize the fleeting opportunities of eternal grace manifested in the flesh. Therefore, the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit are left without the joy that comes from our portion. Yet, however the mystery of iniquity draws us away, the mystery of love covers the multitude of sins, and all things work together for good. We have received the grace of forgiveness; And as His bride we act with the Son, to reproduce eternal children, who are put into the flesh, to bring joy to the Father.
