Jayamsih..! Welcome to today’s devotion!
Unprofitable in eternal substance
John 6:63
- Many people preach the truth, and yet do not become the outward message of the Word in their lives. They rejoice in what they hear, but their joy is only an emotional effect, because faith was not the heavenly cause of it. They live in immediate reactions, which have no eternal effect. For what he said. They give thanks to God, but do not trust in His character to make His promises work in them. They are warm to the word, greet its message with polite thanks, and yet they are empty of respect and fear, in which the rest of the work accomplished could be brought.
To keep the Word you must hear the Word in faith. If someone only greets God’s message, he will never meet God in that message unless he understands the faith that belongs to God. He will never know God until he knows Him through His Word.
God’s Word will connect with you in the character of a transforming force. Your expectations may be in exact agreement with what the Word reveals. We don’t have to live in anything other than what God says.
Many believers speak the Word, and yet live unprofitable lives full of eternal substance. The word is not hidden in their hearts to lead them to victory, because they do not allow the humility of faith to be cultivated in their hearts as good soil. It is only through complete dependence on the Word that we can be freed from Satan’s influences and bonds, which have placed a barricade in our daily lives. To hear the word is to have faith, to see victory, and to be sure of victory.
