Carrying the Ark
Joshua 3:17
- You may have the bread and your hands may be clean, but the ark is not. You may have attendance bread and doctrine, but no ark. You may have prayers at the altar of incense, but no ark. You can be Saul and go to worship, but there is no ark.
Why do people fear and compare? Why do people withdraw? Why does the experience of many seem motionless and cold? When there is a need, why don’t people help? When the body goes through persecution, why do people guard their reactions and refuse to be counted as criminals? This is because there is no ark in their lives.
What is the meaning of carrying the ark? What is the meaning of standing in the Jordan river with the ark on your shoulders until all the people have crossed? What is the meaning of innocent people standing without punishment until the guilty people cross the Jordan? It means, “carrying God’s love in anonymity.” It is only unconditional love that can stand in the Jordan River until the weakest swims into the Promised Land.
We carry the ark of God as priests. We stand up – we stand on our feet in life without any shame, without any punishment, without feeling any justice towards others in ourselves.
Come, let us stand strong in this freedom and others will know that Christ has set us free. Love gives us the ability to carry love and serve others in love. When the ark rests on the shoulders of God’s people, even the weakest can walk away, without judgment, because someone has patience, peace and love towards them because of its nature. - Today’s Reading: Psalms 124-126
