Jayamsih..! Welcome to today’s devotion!
Do you hear the call?
- 1 Corinthians 1:26-31
The Song of Songs pictures the bride’s progressive walk, as her life is consumed by the Bridegroom – the Lord. We see that the Lord has called the bride out of her own life into a heavenly life, and then into a life of love on earth to manifest what she will receive in the heavenly life. It is a continuous conversation, a continuous fellowship, God wants the church to hear the voice of the Spirit. God is constantly calling his people through the Word and the Spirit to the progressiveness of grace, so that then people are constantly being objectively and subjectively balanced by God’s call. Many people join religious practices searching for truth and questioning, rather than simply following God’s call in the prescribed steps in their lives. These steps are not programmed by man but are entrusted to man by God through grace.
The first call was to rise above his self-life (Song of Songs 2:8-15). Why is it so difficult to follow this call? People actually make arrangements to live a life within themselves. They take grace, and enjoy it for themselves instead of using it for their own crucifixion experience. People suffer when they take grace for themselves. Because of the provision of love, God has made it possible for self-life to be crucified. We have a choice to respond to ourselves or lose ourselves by believing. Controlling self-life brings disappointment, but to believe is to accept the truth in its simplicity. - Today’s reading passage: Job 18-20
