Deliverance Before Deliverance –
- James 1:4
People want to experience God’s deliverance without experiencing God’s nature. They want to be prosperous and in good health without advancing their soul in discipleship. They want to be God’s soldiers without the basic training ordained by God. They want to walk the road to Emmaus without first being crucified. They want to experience heaven without becoming familiar with the blood of the cross. They want to be more than victory without having the life of their body conquered by the cross. They want to rule with him without suffering with him. They want to succeed without being disciplined like workers.
Israel wanted deliverance without experiencing a deliverer. But God wants to act in His long-suffering nature. He wants the promised life before he cares about life by redemption. He wants them to rejoice because of what they have heard, instead of asking God for their deliverance before the appointed time. Had they walked in faith, it would have glorified Him and, until the time of their redemption, they would have been redeemed in their hearts. If we are redeemed mentally because of God’s heart, no physical bond can stop us from walking in God’s presence. God wants to work in Himself where you live. Before He honors your request, He wants you to honor Him in the pre-commitment of your heart. God wants us to experience His nature so that we can rejoice in the redemption of His character.
