Jayamsih! Welcome to today’s devotion.
Hanging from a tree.
2 Samuel 18:9
- A false umbrella always places a man on a tree, hanging on the penalty of his own shame. A true umbrella has placed Christ on the tree, so that we can always receive the truth from that tree and walk. A person obtains a false umbrella by rebelling against God, even mentally. When a person thinks against another believer, he is attacking God himself. A mental reaction against a leader is certainly not a common occurrence. Its consequences are very serious. Absalom’s false umbrella kept him on the tree.
A person cannot live without God’s umbrella. The body of Christ, and the administration of the body of Christ, which is represented by the people of God, without this a person is left to the judgment of the false umbrella. Because you have judged others, you will be judged (Romans 2:1). Absalom went against his father David, who was chosen as a man of God. Only God has the right to deal with his people. David also could not deal with Saul, while Saul was also the anointed king. It seems that he had authority, while Saul himself tried to kill him, but God has sole authority over his people.
God’s people are given all authority, all power in heaven and on earth. Weak yet strong, feeble yet perfect, this is the living testimony of a servant of God who has received the ministry given by Christ. A man of God who walks in the fruit of the Holy Spirit is never wrong. Let them not usurp authority by going against the people whom God Himself has led.
