An anthropologist visited the
Bora people. He began to criticize the Christian missionaries among them. He said, “Christianity is for white people. You must return to your old religion and conduct. ” Angered by his past, the angry Bora church leader quickly replied to the anthropologist, “If we do that, you will be the first person to fall into this vessel.”
Bora is the name of a species that lives in the forests of Peru, Colombia and Brazil. Their population is estimated at about 2,000. They speak the Whitton language.
Only a generation ago, the Bora people living in Peru were fearful and quarrelsome. They were cannibals, meaning they ate human flesh. Violence came first when they met people of other races around them.
They have not known Jesus Christ much. After embracing Christ, they have become tender to their wives and children. They have felt the change. Although they do not understand much of the Bible, they do understand one thing: they have been changed after receiving Christ. There is a clear difference between the life before receiving Christ and the life after.
