A Russian woman working at
the royal palace acknowledged the Lord Jesus as her Savior. She did not hide her faith but testified openly. The Tsar, the Russian emperor, was displeased and sent the woman to prison. She spent 24 hours in very difficult conditions. He was then brought before the king. With a look of contempt on his face, the king said, “Are you now willing to reject your foolish faith and come to the court?”
But the woman smiled and calmed the king, saying, “I have found true joy and happiness in spending a day in prison with Jesus, rather than serving in the Tsar’s court for the rest of my life.”
The true peace that Jesus gave would be felt even in prison, as Jesus promised his disciples, “I leave the peace with you. I give you my peace. I will not give you what the world gives you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid ”(John 14:27).
