God Makes a Difference
Exodus 11:6-7
- A verse that rang loud in the ears of the Israelites, and still in the ears of God’s people today, is that God made a difference between us and the world. Who makes that difference? God makes. It was the blood on the doorpost that made the difference between the salvation of the firstborn and his death. Our first birth is lived through the atonement of blood.
Men acted like other people, and in practice they did things like other people. They bowed down and worshiped false gods. If you go by what you see and observe the tired and worn out Israelites when they were in captivity, if you listen to everyday language and try to tell the difference, it is very difficult. The difference was made by God through the blood of redemption and not by the eyes of men.
Glory be to God. The Jews were ignoring the whole plan of Moses. They were filled with a murmuring state; They were vile and corrupt, but God made a difference. We are only sinners and no one has the right to say who is saved and who is not; How can we tell when it is God who made the difference? The difference is huge. It means to be forever in heaven or hell, rejected and denied instead of being looked upon and accepted.
What makes the difference? The shedding of blood brings about God’s redemptive plan. - Today’s reading passage: Jeremiah 1–3
