A Pure Single Response
1 Timothy 5:22
- Keep yourselves pure. This is God’s message to His people. If the purpose for this revelation could be traced to divine accounting and purpose, the body of Christ would long ago have been wholesome and ordained, to manifest that kind of unity which presents God on earth.
Every step that a born-again believer takes is taken in trust with Christ, in the capacity of his heart, with a faith that does not doubt Christ. His mental conduct does not challenge God at any stage of his promise, but he simply walks in the purity of his heart that can trust God.
Keep yourself pure does not mean to stay away from physical or open sin, because that is not the intention of this word and its original meaning. But it always means to walk with wisdom, love, grace and peace in the soul and keep it pure. A heart that is not single in response to the singleness of God’s promises is never pure. A despondent heart, or a fearful heart, is indeed an impure heart.
These sins result in an impure heart and then lead to other sins in some people’s lives, to fill the void of impurity that was created by unbelief. These open sins are only the result of what was lacking in the heart all the time.
Believe and then change your mind through unbelief. Do not doubt through unbelief but walk in the revelation of faith and be purified by faith, taking in God as the mental purpose, the response emotionally and the plan physically.
