Jayamsih..! Welcome to today’s devotion.
Abandonment
1 Peter 2:21
Where does this leave all the people? Where does this true biblical Christianity leave people? Because we follow the example of Christ’s steps, we can glean some facts from his life.
First he abandoned heaven in all its glory and splendor, then he entered time, after abandoning everything in heaven, he abandoned everything on earth that could give him comfort or that could give him some kind of natural ease. He chose a less-than-pleasant place to grow up as a boy.
Because of the rivalry of his life he faced rejection by those who were closer to him than in the language of the earth. In every way of his life, he suffered the loss of all things. He was misunderstood, rejected, hated and forsaken by those who witnessed his miracles. Even though he fed the 5,000, and healed many who were sick, how many followed him to the cross? So much so that even his own disciples left him at Calvary and fled. But the biggest loss was the loss of the company of God the Father for our Lord Jesus, when He had to be forsaken by making sin for us as a Son on Calvary. Abandonment left Jesus alone on the cross, until the end of that moment.
Isn’t that what it’s all about? If Jesus forsook everything, then God the Father had to forsake Jesus Christ. Is this the message now – “Follow, abandon and abandon?” There would have been no fruit, if there had not been a grain of wheat falling to the ground and filling it.
