Creation Says Something
Psalm 121:1-2
- God made man with an inner eye. Psalm 121:1 tells the story of a man who lifts the inner eyes of his heart to the mountains. Creation has given a wonderful testimony to man, who speaks day by day, and reveals knowledge, (Psalm 19:2). Creation speaks to man’s moral conscience, because he has an inner eye. Gentiles can look at the stars, the moon and the sun, and marvel at God’s wonderful handiwork. He has the capacity for truth, because he was created with a moral conscience. As the Gentile lifts his inward eyes to the mountains, the Holy Spirit bears witness to the truth of God’s character in his heart.
He now realizes that what he sees, he must follow. It is not worshiping false gods or creation, but it is respecting the Creator in truth. Salvation is truly from the Lord and is a great work of God. The Holy Spirit has been poured out upon all creatures, (Joel 2:28), and is most available to testify to the truth of God’s character in the heart of man.
How many times have Christians been touched by God’s ministry through creation? As we contemplate the beauty of the plants and the starry sky, we worship the Creator. We marvel at the power it wields, the mind that fashions it, and the wonderful purpose that accompanies it all. No wonder that true humility and humility in a man’s heart can lead him to the mystery of salvation, as he lifts his eyes to the mountains. Mountains may be the only stimulus necessary to establish our thoughts in the peacefulness of who God is.
