Enthusiasm in cooperative truth
1 Samuel 30:6
- In this chapter of Samuel, we see that David and his men returned home to find that the city had been sacked and their women and children had been taken captive. His men responded by stoning Dawood.
David was in trouble, not because of what they were thinking, but because of the fact that they were not encouraging themselves in the Lord. Don’t be afraid of what people think of you, but your unchanging love can provide an unconditional environment for their hearts to respond in faith.
A great principle, in the sense of a cooperative life, is that we give ourselves to the Lord. We never despair of circumstances: instead, we surrender to the cooperative flow, doing so by allowing God’s divinity to bring us to the place of maturity necessary for the sovereign plan God has brought us. We don’t need to learn how to equip our spirituality with what we experience, but live in the light of what we receive, and then allow the poolpit to speak in the unity of cooperative truth.
When God has time for the body (church) to grow in certain areas, the Word will be preached, so that all its parts are grown together, some have not proudly placed their knowledge above the knowledge of God and the knowledge of the way the flesh is moving. That pulpit which is subordinate to the life of the ruling Word and the purpose of the Holy Spirit and the flesh in the plan draws the members together to grow.
