God Remembers
Genesis 19:29
Lot is always a person who always chooses the easy path, the path that seems most pleasing to the eyes. When given the opportunity to choose between Canaan or Sodom, he walked on the visible and took Sodom because it was green everywhere. His choice led him to a visionary land, and in the end Lot himself fell into many heinous sins. However, when God destroyed those cities, He spared Lot from destruction, while he deserved to be decorated.
Why did God release Lot? God’s mercy and grace were always real in his redemption, because mercy rejoices over judgment, (James 2:13). But there is another reason. It is very beautiful and precious. Remember that Abraham went before the Lord in Genesis 19:27 and prayed for Lot. When God destroyed the cities, God’s Word says that God remembered Abraham – in Ako’s words, He remembered Abraham’s prayer. God saw the destruction of those cities, but rescued Lot from the destruction because he remembered Abraham’s prayer.
Hear, dearly beloved: There is a God the Father who always remembers. It is Christ who is ever ready to intercede for you, (Hebrews 7:25). Perhaps, you are in a terrible situation. Maybe you fell into it yourself because you walk by what you see. God the Father hears His Son who prays for you. He always wants to remember His Son and redeem you.
