I have enjoyed the careful accuracy of your site.
I’ve always been taught that those whose names are not found written in the Lamb’s book of life will be cast into the lake of fire where they will burn forever. I understand that there are degrees of punishment in hell. Is there a Bible teaching that validates the “eternal death” of unbelievers, meaning that they will literally burn continuously for all eternity? Any help concerning this question is appreciated. Thanks, Rob
Is there really a place called hell? A place where the unsaved who die are kept until the Day of Judgment? A place which will then to be cast into a lake of fire where its inhabitants will endure eternal punishment?
Only Satan benefits when man loses his fear of hell and a coming judgment. Jude 1:23 reads, “And others save with fear, pulling them out of the fire; hating even the garment spotted by the flesh.” Years ago, while preaching the Word, I asked the congregation how many were motivated to give their hearts to Christ as a result of the fear of hell. Approximately 75% of the hands went up. The Word of God declares in Proverbs 1:7, “The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge:…” Surely it’s Satan’s desire to destroy the fear of God and his prophesied coming judgment.

Psalms 147:9-20 (KJV) He giveth to the beast his food, and to the young ravens which cry.
He delighteth not in the strength of the horse: he taketh not pleasure in the legs of a man.
The LORD taketh pleasure in them that fear him, in those that hope in his mercy.
Praise the LORD, O Jerusalem; praise thy God, O Zion.
For he hath strengthened the bars of thy gates; he hath blessed thy children within thee.
He maketh peace in thy borders, and filleth thee with the finest of the wheat.
He sendeth forth his commandment upon earth: his word runneth very swiftly.
He giveth snow like wool: he scattereth the hoarfrost like ashes.
He casteth forth his ice like morsels: who can stand before his cold?
He sendeth out his word, and melteth them: he causeth his wind to blow, and the waters flow.
He sheweth his word unto Jacob, his statutes and his judgments unto Israel.
He hath not dealt so with any nation: and as for his judgments, they have not known them. Praise ye the LORD.
