God’s Promise Is Not Slack.
But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night, in which the heavens will pass
3:1Beloved, I now write to you this second epistle (in both of which I stir up your pure minds by way of reminder),3:2that you may be mindful of the words which were spoken before by the holy prophets, and of the commandment of [a]us, the apostles of the Lord and Savior,3:3knowing this first: that scoffers will come in the last days, walking according to their own lusts,3:4and saying, “Where is the promise of His coming? For since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of creation.”3:5For this they willfully forget: that by the word of God the heavens were of old, and the earth standing out of water and in the water,3:6by which the world that then existed perished, being flooded with water.3:7But the heavens and the earth which are now preserved by the same word, are reserved for fire until the day of judgment and [b]perdition of ungodly men.3:8But, beloved, do not forget this one thing, that with the Lord one day is as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.3:9The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some count slackness, but is longsuffering toward [c]us, not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance.3:10But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night, in which the heavens will pass away with a great noise, and the elements will melt with fervent heat; both the earth and the works that are in it will be [d]burnedup.
Part1.God’s Promise Is Not Slack.
Psalms 3:1-8 (KJV) LORD, how are they increased that trouble me! many are they that rise up against me.
Many there be which say of my soul, There is no help for him in God. Selah.
But thou, O LORD, art a shield for me; my glory, and the lifter up of mine head.
I cried unto the LORD with my voice, and he heard me out of his holy hill. Selah.
I laid me down and slept; I awaked; for the LORD sustained me.
I will not be afraid of ten thousands of people, that have set themselves against me round about.
Arise, O LORD; save me, O my God: for thou hast smitten all mine enemies upon the cheek bone; thou hast broken the teeth of the ungodly.
Salvation belongeth unto the LORD: thy blessing is upon thy people. Selah.
