Substitute Love
- Romans 5:7-8
Many people who have chosen the course of their lives do not want to be responsible for its consequences. Instead, they blame their condition on natural things in the world, such as heredity, environment, people, individuals, and circumstances. They do not want to stand before God alone and face what their selfishness has produced. Selfishness exists only when man does not get a replacement for his life. A substitute is someone who, in his heart’s desire, wants to take your place.
A man is not a substitute for anyone until he receives a reward for himself in the vanity of his heart.
For the life that Jesus gave, if He had asked for it, we would have been forced to serve Him in bonds. Many believers want others to submit and serve by the letters of the law. Instead of striving for life, they set standards. They give others a standard and a goal, to reach it, and then leave them without the life and energy needed to reach it. They give advice without the anointed light of God’s mind. They act without power towards others, trying to make the characters parade on their own volition. They take that right which Jesus Christ himself never took. Jesus Christ never imposed anything on us. He only died for us, that too without any condition or want of reward, and gave his life in serving us the victory won by the cross.
