“Adverse climate change has caused
many disasters and life on earth seems impossible.” – The Guardian.
People are facing a big problem right now. Many scientists believe that the main cause of global warming is human activity. As a result, the weather has changed dramatically and many disasters have occurred. Here are some of them:
Rapid changes in the weather, such as extreme heat, drought, and hurricanes. Due to such changes, the risk of floods and fires is increasing.
Glaciers and Arctic ice are melting.
Sea level is rising.
Such changes have affected all corners of the globe. The New York Times reported on the situation in 193 countries: “The earth is crying out for help.” The World Health Organization (WHO) has called it “the most dangerous enemy of mankind” as people are suffering and losing their lives due to climate change.
But there is reason for us to be optimistic. What is happening now is foretold in the Bible. It also tells us why we can expect God to correct them and what He will do to give us a bright future.
Is Climate Change a fulfillment of Bible prophecy?
Yes Climate change is in line with Bible prophecy about our time .
Prophecy: God will “bring to ruin those ruining the earth .” – Revelation 11:18 .
The Bible foretold that the earth would be destroyed by human activity. The earth is being destroyed by man-made causes of global warming, more than ever before.
From what is indicated in this prophecy, we can see that humans will not make the earth better again. Because in that verse God is said to step in and “destroy the destroyers of the earth.” No matter how hard the people try to save the planet, they will not succeed.
Prophecy: “People will see horrible scenes.” – Luke 21:11 .
The Bible foretold that “terrible scenes” would occur in our day that is, frightening events. Climate change is causing catastrophic disasters all over the world. Some people are now suffering from mental stress due to the fear that the environment will be destroyed.
Prophecy: “In the last days critical times hard to deal with will be here. People love only themselves, love money,. . . Treacherous,. . . Not agreeing to anything,. . . Will be treacherous and stubborn. ” – 2 Timothy 3: 1-4 .
The Bible foretold a change in human behavior . Such changes have had a negative impact on the climate. Governments and merchants think of their own economic interests, not the interests of the next generation. Although they try to work together to protect the environment, they do not agree to take all the necessary steps.
As foretold in this prophecy, it is not to be expected that humans will save the earth by adjusting their actions. On the contrary, the Bible says that “the people will be made worse and worse.” – 2 Timothy 3:13 .
Why can we be sure that God will take action?
Jehovah in the Bible * He is said to care for the earth and its inhabitants. Consider three Bible verses that indicate that God will act.
१. God “did not create [the earth] in vain but made it for habitation.” – Isaiah 45:18 .
God will fulfill His purpose for the earth. (
God will fulfill His purpose for the earth. ( Isaiah 55:11 ) He will not allow it to perish and will not allow him to endure.
२. “The meek ones themselves will possess the earth, and they will indeed find their exquisite delight in the abundance of peace. The righteous themselves will possess the earth, and they will reside forever upon it. ”- Psalm 37:11, 29 .
God has promised that people will enjoy everlasting life in the peaceful environment of the earth.
३. “The wicked ones themselves will be cut off from the earth.” – Proverbs 2:22 .
God has promised to destroy all the wicked, including the destroyers of the earth.
What will God do for our future?
How will you fulfill God’s purpose for the earth? He will accomplish his purpose through a government called the Kingdom of God in the Bible. ( Matthew 6:10 ) This Kingdom will rule over the earth from heaven. When it deals with matters relating to the earth and the environment, it will not have to deal with human governments, but will rule over all human governments . — Daniel 2:44 .
God’s Kingdom will do good things for the earth and its people. ( Psalm 96: 10-13 ) Let us now consider what Jehovah will do with his Kingdom.
You will restore the environment to its former state
What does the Bible say? “The wilderness and the dry land will rejoice. The wilderness will rejoice and will blossom like a saffron flower. ”- Isaiah 35: 1 .
What does this mean for our future? Jehovah will make the whole earth beautiful, including the places where people have been badly damaged.
You will control the weather
What does the Bible say? “[Jehovah] is holding back the wind; You are calming the waves of the sea. ”- Psalm 107: 29 .
What does this mean for our future? Jehovah has the power to control all things. Humans will not have to suffer because of extreme climate change.
You will teach people to take care of the earth
What does the Bible say? “I shall give you insight and guide you in the way you should go.” – Psalm 32: 8 .
What does this mean for our future? Jehovah entrusted humans with the responsibility of caring for the earth. ( Genesis 1:28; 2:15 ) God will teach us how to take care of what He has created and how to live without harming the environment.
Does the Bible say that the earth will be destroyed by fire as the temperature rises?
Some people compare the rising of the earth’s temperature to what the Bible says about the earth being “saved for fire.” ( 2 Peter 3: 7 ) But the context of this Bible verse does not refer to the real earth and the real fire.
