Our hearts go out to those who have considered ending their lives by suicide.
- If that’s you right now, it can speak to many emotions, such as hopelessness and despair. Maybe you feel like you are in a very deep hole, and you doubt that there is a glimmer of hope that things can get better. You won’t find anyone who understands or cares about where you’re coming from. Life is not meant to be lived…or is it?
It is to associate Jesus, the sinless Son of God, with your contempt and humiliation. The prophet Isaiah writes about him in Isaiah 53:2-6, describing him as an outcast, “despised and forsaken by all.” His life was full of sorrow and suffering. But the suffering he endured was not his own; He was pierced, bruised, trampled, all because of our sin. Because he suffered, our lives are redeemed and made whole.
Friend, Jesus Christ endured all these things so that all your sins could be forgiven. Whatever burdens of guilt you carry around you, remember that He will forgive you if you humbly accept Him as your Savior. …“Call upon me in the day of trouble, and I will deliver you…” (Psalm 50:15).
It is not bad for Jesus to forgive you for what you have done. Some of his chosen servants in the Bible committed very serious sins such as murder (Moses), murder and adultery (King David), and physical and emotional abuse (the apostle Paul). Nevertheless, they received forgiveness from God and an abundant life. “Cleanse me from all my iniquities, and cleanse me from my sins. “Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old is gone, see, A new one has arrived.” (2 Corinthians 5:17).
Why should you not kill the soul? Friend, God is ready to mend the “broken” life you have right now, which you want to destroy through suicide. In Isaiah 61:1-3, the prophet wrote, “The Spirit of the Lord God is upon me, because God has anointed me to preach good news to the poor. He has sent me to bind up the hearts of the brokenhearted, to set the captives at liberty, and to proclaim release to the captives. To proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor and the day of vengeance of our God, to comfort all who mourn, and to give to those who mourn in Zion a crown of beauty instead of ashes, and a crown of joy instead of mourning. Anointed with oil, clothed with praise instead of a depressed heart. They will be called trees of righteousness planted by the Lord for the display of his glory.”
Let Jesus come, and let Him restore your joy and usefulness, trust Him to start a new life. He promises to restore the joy you lost and give you a new spirit to maintain it. Your heart is precious to Him. A broken spirit is a sacrifice to God. O God, you do not despise a broken heart” (Psalm 51:12,15-17).
Do you accept God as your Savior and Shepherd? He will follow your thoughts and steps—one day at a time—through His Word, the Bible. “I will teach you, I will teach you in what way you should walk. I will counsel you and watch over you” (Psalm 32:8). “For your time he will be a sure foundation and salvation and a precious treasure of knowledge and wisdom. The fear of the Lord is the key to this treasure” (Isaiah 33:6). In Christ, you will still struggle, but now you have hope. He is a “friend that sticks closer than a brother” (Proverbs 18:24). May the grace of the Lord Jesus be with you in your decision.
If you want to believe that Jesus Christ is your Savior, say these words to God in your heart. “God, I need you in my life. Forgive me for everything I have done. I put my faith in Jesus Christ and believe that He is my Savior. Please wash me, heal me, and restore joy in my life. Thank you for your love for me and for Jesus’ death in my place.
