Owning an inheritance in Canaan Living in Egypt
- 2 Peter 2:19
What does it mean to live in a bond life? When we come under a system, we are bound, and that system, after exploring all its possibilities, forcibly produces all the effects that are its effects. This was the story of the children of Israel in the book of Exodus. These people never repented. They received grace but they never turned from themselves. They received unconditional love from Joseph, but they never repented of their actions that destroyed him. There are many members in the church who thank God for His grace, but never turn from themselves. This is a problem for the soul, which has brought grace to the liberated people, but they have to resist with their own lives in the bonds of another society and economic system.
God wants to take people out of bondage and bring them to Canaan. Egypt is always the land of freedom. Canaan has always been a land of dependence. Deliverance from bondage brings dependence on God, not Adam’s freedom. Adam can never be free, because he remains in slavery to himself and his own imperfection until he acquires the life of another. Freedom is the manifestation of the right to be oneself by using one’s education, one’s culture, one’s experience, one’s skills and the process of attainment in the power of one’s soul from outside one’s God. As long as man sows freedom against the cross, the body of Christ, and its leaders, he is sowing seeds of destruction and hardship. Where he lives—Canaan or Egypt—affects ‘who he is’.
