Jayamsih! Welcome to today’s devotion.
Love – Above a Law
- The Sabbath is not lordship over Jesus Christ, but Jesus is Lord of the Sabbath. The commandments are not above Jesus Christ. Where reality is supreme, Jesus Christ is supreme above reality.
The character of God’s holiness is always superior to the reality, but man is born to sorrow (Job 5:7), because of the inconsistency of his own character. Reality achieves excellence, but man is conquered by his failure, just as none of his attempts to be divine succeeds. He needs the imputation of a character much higher than himself. Jesus Christ excels in one reality, above all other realities, and that is love. This love was a reality that transcended ‘what the system says about man, and what it demands of him to be’, a reality that was revealed in the person of Jesus Christ.
This love fulfilled the law that man could not fulfill (Romans 10:4, 13:8) and it brings man into himself, where perfection resides. How can people use their own reality as a reason to block the reality of love? Seeking to bring them out of reality, love, into that person – who completes them; It leaves the person hopelessly in the lurch of the final decision of his case. Judgment was brought upon the Son, that mercy might rejoice over us (James 2:13).
The Persians in Luke 6 were driven by their idea of what reality should be and never entered into the true love that fulfilled the law, so that it could bring about the redemption of mankind. Their level tried to stop love so that love would not drag people into life.
