Welcome to today’s devotion.
Righteousness by faith
Romans 5:1-5
- How can we glorify God? By offering the same life to him which he has given completely free. God sends us times of testing with purposeful perfection, to blow what used to be our perception of God into a living reality. God works tribulations into our lives, knowing in advance our needs, what the test will produce, and what our response will be. God uses the fiery furnace to activate that which dwells within us—the life of His Son.
When the test comes, either we will faint; Or we pray, we leave, or we learn obedience, we live in Christ, or we live in our own wretchedness. If we refuse to allow Christ’s nature to be revealed in tribulation, we will end up squandering God’s grace, and never mature into His plan. We will never be able to return the qualities that God has imparted to us. If we trust God in times of trouble, patience will be produced. We will experience faith, as we rejoice in standing in grace, we rejoice in the hope of Christ manifested through us.
The test of our faith is actually more valuable than gold, because God is producing something in us that will never pass away—the eternal nature of Christ. Love doesn’t want to be expressed and experienced, blown through us, and poured out onto others. We do not need to know all the “whys” of suffering. We can be confident in the character of love; Satisfied with Him who intercedes for us in every situation and responds through us to the manifestation of His life.
