Welcome to today’s devotion.
All things work together for good
Romans 8:28-31
- God’s purpose is love. Those who are called according to His purpose are those who desire to pursue love. God’s promise is that, no matter what happens in your life, if you are pursuing love, He will make it all work for good. Because God knew who would receive His life into their hearts, He prepared a plan for those people. This plan will combine everything that happens in their lives to mold them into the image of His own Son.
Not one thing will happen to us that He cannot use to call us into a deeper walk with Him. Loneliness is definitely not good. Personal disasters and heartaches are definitely not good. While we experience tears and long to be freed from those things, we can know with sure confidence that, in the character of God’s love, He is working every single thing for good, and every single experience is contributing to our capacity for God. God involves His plan in grace. He has already justified us; He sees us as righteous as though we have never sinned. He has glorified us in the perfect work of the sight of his mind’s eye. Because of love, God did not hold back even giving up His own Son to die for us. How much more, since His Son is united with us, will He now work all things together with His life to provide for us?
If God is on our side, who can be against us? It is never too late for God to turn a mistake or disaster into something good. Because of God’s love, the best days of our lives are ahead of us.
