Welcome to today’s devotion.
Come, Let’s Make a Deal
- Esther 3:8, 7:10
The flesh takes us on a journey, and leaves us asking for a lift. Our body pretends to be our best friend and then rejects us. The body never fulfills its contract. Haman in the book of Esther speaks very clearly about the changeable and unpredictable nature of the body, people make a covenant with their body, believing that they can successfully cooperate with it. This kind of preconceived notions make people believe in lies. Do not be deceived, God is not a joke. Lust breeds sin and sin has a day of reckoning. The price is death. By accepting this kind of consent, to set the mind on the flesh is death (Romans 8:5).
The body will be constantly struggling to survive and master its insecurities and inadequacies. It will find its life in any form of security. which will allow its existence. It lives at his expense. There is love with it, but this love is also continued at the expense of others. If the result of his “love” is to establish himself more securely before men and the world, then this “love” is a good investment for its own sake. This business friend will ask for a lift and leave.
How different is this from the love of Jesus? Jesus makes a deal because He loves you. This is for your benefit. This is life for you at his expense. Even if you leave him, he will never leave you. That is his expense. He will never change, even if you are, and that is at his expense. Love always endures, and heals, and forgives, that he may rule with you, at his own expense. He is our trusted business friend.
