Learning Obedience
2 Corinthians 1:3-4
God wants us to be able to know what He went through and what others are going through. His desire is that God wants us to be people who identify with the suffering with the comforting heart of Christ. God wants His people to gain experience by learning obedience through the things they have suffered.
God wants to make us perfect sharers of Christ’s suffering. If the Holy Spirit wants to bring great blessings back into your life, those are the times where you experience maturity and the presence of God, where you are not left behind and perhaps where everything seems to have failed. But you stand with God, and though you are weak, you learn obedience. You learn through trials, through which you were made to suffer. Then 6 months later you find yourself crying and dating another person. You are broken. Everything you have gone through will be remembered in your heart, even though you may not have said anything about it. But everything you go through comes from your soul and that person sees and understands your deep love and you can comfort him.
How many times do we think we can’t go on or see the possibility of it working? We think we cannot bear it. But we are not rebels. And we deliver to God. He listens and He gives us comfort to rest, love to give and grace to experience. We have learned obedience, a weak people who have learned how to receive God’s power.
