Jayamsih..! Welcome to today’s devotion!
Decisions apart from God
Isaiah 46:10
- How many counselors evaluate their own eyes and reasoning. And they never wait for him to renew themselves by the power of God’s will! They never consider the sovereignty of God, because they think they have the right to judge according to their own understanding of the letter of God’s word. There is a plan involved in everything God’s children participate in. Our advice based on appearances can lead a person away from experiencing God’s sovereign plan by faith.
If one of the married couple is an unbeliever, the faithful character of the marriage can be coerced by wrong advice to be devoted to all marriages. By giving such advice, the counselor has failed to abide by the word of God. The Bible says that Christ is the head of the husband, then the husband is the head of the wife (1 Corinthians 11:3). God’s nature will never be devoted to Adam. A husband or wife who has given their life to Christ has Christ as their head. Because he receives life from the head, he automatically acts in the same love, mercy, forgiveness, and grace that God himself has done.
A wife is to be devoted to her husband as befits the Lord (Colossians 3:18), but not because of his salvation (1 Corinthians 7:14). She may be a living sacrifice to draw him to Christ, but the meaning of that verse in 1 Corinthians is that her unsaved husband is separated, so that he can act in the life of Christ as he walks in the Holy Spirit. He is responsible before God for his salvation and not according to his walk before God.
