Why Should I Not Commit Suicide? – A Deeper Explanation from the Bible’s Perspective

1. The value of life is determined by God.

Every human life is precious, for man is created in the image of God (Genesis 1:27). Suicide is a waste of this wonderful life that God has given us. No matter what circumstances you face in life, God has a plan for you (Jeremiah 29:11).

2. Suicide is not a solution to problems.

The solution to every problem is not suicide, but rather surrendering to God and surrendering to His plan. Psalm 34:18 says, “God is close to the brokenhearted.” God understands all your pain, and He has the power to give you new hope.

3. The example of Jesus Christ

Jesus also suffered pain, humiliation, and suffering (Isaiah 53:3-5). He did not give up his life despite the immense suffering on the cross. Instead, he gave his life to fulfill God’s will. He conquered death and was resurrected, showing us that there is light beyond darkness.

4. Suicide is a false plan of the enemy.

Satan tempts people to commit suicide by making them feel hopeless, unsuccessful, and worthless. Jesus said, “The thief (Satan) comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly” (John 10:10).

5. There is still hope.

No matter how dark your life may be, God’s light can touch you. Suicide is not the end, but the door to Jesus’ love and forgiveness is always open. Psalm 50:15 says, “Call upon me in trouble, and I will deliver you.”

6. God mends a broken heart.

God wants to restore your broken heart. In Isaiah 61:1-3, He promises to “bind up the brokenhearted and set at liberty the captives.” God can heal every wound, insult, and disappointment in life.

7. Not later, but a new life today

The door to new life is open in Jesus Christ. 2 Corinthians 5:17 says, “If anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation.” Surrender, not suicide, is a new beginning.

8. Don’t be ashamed to seek help.

You are not alone. Talk openly with friends, family, church leaders, or confidants. Contact suicide prevention hotlines. God also sends people to help you.

Conclusion: God is the Owner of Life

Suicide is not the answer, because God is the Owner of life. He can fill your life with meaning, hope, and joy. Let us take refuge in Him today, live in His love, and make a new beginning.
