God’s Taste
Revelation 2:4
How many things go beyond our first love until we lose its compelling presence in our lives? God wants love to come first. The reason is because of the results it brings to the state. What was on God’s heart at the end of each Gospel (Matthew 28:19, Mark 16:15, Luke 24:47, John 20:21)? Life-winning was in God’s heart. When Jesus was dying on the cross, the last thing he did was to win life, to spread eternal life to the thief who was crucified next to him. Why did God give us rest from the work done? Because a person placed in Christ rests in that experience and is able to become a great life-winning expert in co-operation with love.
Even when he was going, Jesus had the matter of winning lives in mind. This is what he came for, and this is what he did while he was here. He died to win souls. Live for the same reason Christ came. Allow God to reveal that He has come to make you a specialist. In the power of the Spirit of God we convince people, because we know about the fear of the Lord, (1 Corinthians 5:11). We know about the judgment seat in heaven (1 Corinthians 5:10). We win souls because we are compelled by love. We don’t want to get used to our own sterility and fears. Winning lives is God’s purpose and reason. Jesus focused on personal life-winning when he sent Philip, who had preached to the multitudes, to overcome the unruliness of Ethiopia (Acts 8:25-40). Jesus lived his entire life for the first cause, the love that resulted in others taking their first breath of life in the Kingdom.
