Hearing Brings Light:
Luke 8:18, 10:39-42
- Be careful how you listen. No one can hear him until he is crucified. Hearing the voice of one’s will produces eternal effects. People try to apply what they say is true without listening to God, which conflicts with the belief that His life produces righteousness. Even Jesus Christ, in the perfection of His righteous judgment, put Him in the corner to hear the voice of the Father (John 5:30).
Jesus Christ first heard from the Father and then came to be known to us through death. By that one death we become the children of God, who are led by the Father’s voice communicated by the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit first teaches us to listen. Do not seek power, but listen and receive a word that is powerful. Many people want to find things in the definitions of life without listening to God. Instead of living by the voice of the Father spreading faith to reveal the Son, they look to meaningless things to give purpose to their Christian experience. They are always looking for something in their Christian life because they don’t have the full understanding of the finished work that always comes through the Word of the Father.
A person may have a son living in his heart, but that person may not progress in the light of the grace of the gift. He has no influence in his ministry, because God has not spoken effectively about salvation. God’s Word gives you faith to lay down your life (Romans 10:17), which reveals the revelation of God’s voice.
