How do we know that Jesus was truly man and God?
The nature and identity of Jesus Christ are very clearly stated in the Bible. Jesus was both fully human and fully God at the same time . This religious truth is called the “doctrine of dual nature ,” in which Jesus possessed both his divine nature (God’s nature) and human nature equally. In this article, we will try to understand these two aspects and examine the major biblical evidence that supports this doctrine.
1️⃣ Jesus was God
📖 “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.” – John 1:1
This is one of the key scriptures in the Bible that clarifies the divine nature of Jesus. The word “Word” refers to Jesus Christ. This scripture states that Jesus was with God from the beginning and was God himself. Jesus expressed the fullness of God’s holiness and divine power. When Jesus was born on earth, He had already taken on His divine nature in the form and flesh of a man.
2️⃣ Jesus was human
📖 “No one has ascended into heaven but he who came down from heaven, the Son of Man.” – John 3:13
This scripture clearly presents the true human form of Jesus. Jesus descended from heaven in the form of God, but He became fully human. It tells us about the unique and unique union between Jesus’ humanity and divinity. Jesus experienced physical experiences such as hunger, thirst, fatigue, and suffering, which make Him fully human.
3️⃣ The blend between Jesus’ divinity and humanity
📖 “Jesus said, I and God are one.” – John 10:30
Here, Jesus revealed the unique unity between himself and God. Jesus’ divinity and humanity are not just two separate forms, but both natures are united in the unity of Jesus. Jesus’ statement, “I and God are one,” confirms Jesus’ complete divine identity. This scripture clearly affirms his divine authority and approval.
4️⃣ Evidence of Jesus’ birth on earth
📖 “He who was born on earth dwelt among men.” – 1 John 4:2
Jesus was born physically and lived on earth as a human. The events of Jesus’ birth are clear in the Bible, and they prove that he was truly human. Jesus’ birth, his life, and his death are evidence that he was taken on in full humanity.
5️⃣ The miracles of Jesus and the power of God
📖 “I have done everything you see by the power of God.” – Matthew 12:28
Jesus’ miracles and wonders are clear evidence of his divine nature. Jesus gave sight to the blind, made the deaf hear, healed the sick, raised the dead, and walked on the sea. All of these acts prove that Jesus was not just a human being, but also embodied the divine power of God.
6️⃣ The death and resurrection of Jesus
📖 “The Lord Jesus rose from the dead on the third day.” – Matthew 28:6
The death and resurrection of Jesus proved His divinity. Despite the death of His physical body, His divine nature enabled Him to be resurrected three days after His death. This confirmed the union of Jesus’ divine and human natures. The resurrection of Jesus confirmed His victory and demonstrated the value of His sacrifice to forgive all the sins of the world.
7️⃣ Jesus presents himself as God
📖 “I and God are one.” – John 10:30
Here Jesus said that He and God are one. Jesus presented Himself as the perfect embodiment of divinity, and this proves the principle of His divinity. In addition, the purpose of His coming to the world is also clear – Jesus was to surrender Himself for the salvation of mankind.
conclusion:
Jesus Christ was both fully human and fully God at the same time . The scriptures of the Bible clearly present both the divine nature and the human nature of Jesus. The life, work, death, and resurrection of Jesus proved these principles. We should see Jesus not just as a great teacher, hero, or religious leader, but as the incarnation of God, who came to bring us to the path of God’s love and salvation.
