Rule No. 1: Put God at the Center of EVERYTHING – A Detailed Study in the Light of the Bible
Introduction
We have many priorities in life — family, career, studies, service, wealth, health, and relationships. But what is most important of all, is God at the center of our lives? Putting God first in every area of life is the foundation of our faith. The Bible says —
“But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you” (Matthew 6:33).
What does it mean to put God at the center?
Putting God at the center means—
- Seeking His will in every decision
- Seeking His glory in every action
- Following God’s principles and teachings in your personal, family, social, and professional lives
- Moving forward based on faith, obedience, and love for God in every area of life
Biblical Explanation
1. God was at the center at the beginning of creation.
“In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth” (Genesis 1:1)
At the beginning of creation, God was there. There was nothing else but Him. Today, God is the first in our lives.
2. Commandment given to Israel
“You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your strength” (Deuteronomy 6:5).
This was the formula for the success of the nation of Israel—putting God first. Whenever they put God at the center, they were blessed, and when they strayed from God, they were punished.
3. The Teachings of Jesus
“All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me” (Matthew 28:18)
“But seek first the kingdom of God” (Matthew 6:33)
Jesus taught that we should put the Kingdom of God and His will at the center of our entire lives.
Why is it necessary to put God at the center?
1. He is our Creator.
Our coming into existence, our living, and our purpose—all are His plan (Isaiah 43:7).
2. Gives guidance in life
“In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight” (Proverbs 3:6).
3. Blessings flow from Him.
“Every good gift and every perfect present is from above” (James 1:17)
4. Peace and security
“My peace I give to you” (John 14:27)
