Serving the Enemy
Jeremiah 17:4
- Perhaps the most frustrating thing for God’s people throughout history to deal with men and women through redemption is when Christ allows His people to serve their enemies. His intention for them is to be the head, but not the tail. It is God’s desire that they prosper in all things and be in our health. Along with sovereignty, it was his will that he had the right to act separately for his glory.
We have many enemies like fear, disappointment, bitterness, criticism etc. If we give up on the inheritance God has given us and argue and leave it, then the Lord will make us serve our enemies. We do not choose to conquer our enemies with Romans 12:20. We choose to accept temptations from our enemies and not continue in the joy of grace, instead of living in that grace we begin to serve our enemies. Perhaps you did not intend to be defeated, but when you think about the meaning of defeat, then you start serving the enemy, who defeats you. A believer does not need to serve the shadow of temptation from the enemy or stand with the offers of hell. That excitement has no authority over our minds or authority over our souls or power over our bodies.
Live from the life above rather than from the life below. Live the life hidden in Christ rather than the life hidden in Adam. Live in heavenly resources rather than the flesh and the devil. Cast your bread upon the waters (Ecclesiastes 11:1) and share life, for you have lived in the victorious leadership of His heavenly resources. - Today’s reading passage: Isaiah 25-27
