The Message of the Cross – Part 21
(Faith and Salvation: The True Meaning of Life)
“Grace saves you, not by faith alone, not by any effort of yours.”
- Ephesians 2:8
The main question in the life of every human being in the world is always this: “What is the purpose of our life?” We have searched in many places to find the answer to this question. We are running after fortune, money and success, but sometimes all these cannot give us true peace and fulfillment. Therefore, it is very important to understand the importance and purpose of the sacrifice made by Jesus on the cross. In this article, we will try to understand the real meaning of faith and salvation .
1. Are you of the faith?
Faith is something we use at different moments in life. We believe the words of everyone we meet, we believe the friends we walk with. But, when it comes to our spiritual life, faith means believing in Jesus, accepting His sacrifice on the cross, and walking under God’s guidance. Faith is not just a feeling, it is a way of life .
👉 Bible verse:
“For you have been saved through faith, and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God.”
- Ephesians 2:8
This verse is making it clear that faith is not just our effort, it is part of God’s grace and gift for us to achieve it.
2. Salvation: What do we receive?
What is salvation? Does it simply mean freedom from sin, or does it involve something deeper? Salvation is not just receiving forgiveness for our sins, but also the beginning of a new life . Jesus’ sacrifice on the cross gives us two things— the forgiveness of sins and the way to eternal life .
👉 Bible verse:
“If you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.”
- Romans 10:9
This verse is saying that salvation comes through faith and acceptance . We must accept Jesus’ sacrifice with faith and begin walking in a new way of life.
3. The Cross and Our Salvation
The sacrifice of the cross serves two important purposes. First, it eliminates the consequences of sin —death and separation . Second, it opens up the possibility of eternal life for us. Jesus showed us the way to true salvation, which brings us back into unity with God and a life of contentment. In addition, the sacrifice of the cross also gives us an example—how to treat others with patience and love .
👉 Bible verse:
“This is my body, which is given for you; eat it in remembrance of it. Likewise, this is my blood of the covenant, which will be shed for you.”
- Luke 22:19-20
In this, Jesus explained to his disciples the importance of the sacrifice of the cross as a symbol of his body and blood. He showed us an example of how to make ourselves a sacrifice. This helps us to understand the importance of sacrifice and love spiritually.
4. A new way of faith and life
Faith alone is not enough to receive salvation, it gives us a new perspective and a new purpose in life . When we accept Jesus as Lord and Savior of our lives, we are not only freed from sin, but we receive new life . New life is not just a physical life, but also a spiritual life . Believing in Jesus means taking our life in a new direction.
👉 Bible verse:
“You are not seeking a new state of old life, you have created a new creature in you. Old things have passed away, new things have come.”
- 2 Corinthians 5:17
This verse shows that when we believe in Jesus, we are not only freed from sin, but every aspect of our old life is changed. We become new creatures , who find true purpose and spiritual peace .
5. The measure of faith for salvation
There is only one thing that is important for salvation — faith . Faith is accepting God with our hearts and allowing Jesus’ sacrifice on the cross to have an effect on our lives. If we truly believe in Jesus, this faith will permeate every aspect of our lives.
👉 Bible verse:
“Without faith it is impossible to please God, for those who come to God must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who seek him.”
- Hebrews 11:6
This shows us that faith is not just an external activity, but rather a spiritual relationship . The depth of our faith strengthens our relationship with God .
conclusion
The message of the cross is not only deliverance and salvation from sin, it also gives us real purpose and guidance in life. Jesus’ sacrifice gives us salvation and the opportunity for eternal life through faith . It gives us the possibility of a new life and a close relationship with God. The sacrifice of Jesus on the cross is not only the forgiveness of our sins, but it also gives us a strong spiritual life that is achieved through faith and spiritual guidance .
