The Message Of The Cross – Part 4
(Jesus Christ: The Greatest Gift to the World)
Introduction: The only person the world needs
If there is one person in the world who can change a person’s life, it is Jesus Christ.
✔ The person who defined history – time was divided into “before Jesus” (BC) and “after Jesus” (AD).
✔ The most studied person in the world – more discussed than any religious leader, ruler or scientist.
✔ The person you loved the most – who gave his life on the cross for you!
Today we will understand the message of the cross , focusing on Jesus Christ . Why is his sacrifice the most important thing for the world?
1. Jesus Christ: Who is he?
Many people think of Jesus as just a religious leader, a prophet, or a good teacher . But he is much more than that!
✔ Son of God – “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.” (John 1:1)
✔ Savior of the world – “God gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” (John 3:16)
✔ Friend of sinners – “He hath sent me to preach the gospel to the poor.” (Luke 4:18)
Jesus Christ is not just a religious figure , He is the Savior!
2. Why was the cross necessary?
If Jesus were just a teacher or guide, the cross would have no meaning.
✔ People were in sin – “All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.” (Romans 3:23)
✔ The penalty for sin is death – “The wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus.” (Romans 6:23)
✔ Forgiveness was not possible without the cross – “Without blood there is no forgiveness.” (Hebrews 9:22)
✝ There is no salvation without the cross!
3. What did Jesus do on the cross?
Many people wonder, “Why did Jesus go to the cross?”
✔ He suffered death in our place – “He was wounded for our transgressions.” (Isaiah 53:5)
✔ He bore our sins – “He gave us redemption through his own blood.” (Colossians 1:14)
✔ He opened the way for us to eternal life – “He who believes in me, even though he dies, will live.” (John 11:25)
✝ The cross is the supreme proof of love!
4. Jesus is still alive today!
Jesus did not just die like other religious leaders .
✔ He was resurrected on the third day! (Matthew 28:6)
✔ He is alive in heaven! (Romans 8:34)
✔ He will come again! (Revelation 22:12)
✝ He died on the cross, but in the resurrection He triumphed!
5. What should you do?
The message of the cross is not just information, it is a matter of personal decision .
✔ Believe! – “Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved.” (Acts 16:31)
✔ Repent! – “If we confess our sins, he forgives us.” (1 John 1:9)
✔ Receive Jesus! – “As many as received him, to them he gave the right to become children of God.” (John 1:12)
✝ “Make a decision today! Accept the message of the cross!”
Conclusion: Jesus went to the cross because He loves you!
The cross is not just a piece of wood, it is a sign of God’s eternal love .
✔ He loves you.
