Jayamsih!!! Welcome to today’s devotion.
Unscheduled by Love
Luke 10:30-33
- Is your schedule interfering with your expression of love? Are you too quick to stop and care for the needs of others? Do you count the opportunity to serve the least of your brothers as an opportunity to serve Christ Himself, (Matthew 25:40)? To please God is to practice a faith that works through love.
Many people are so attached to their own religious practices that they are empty of the substance of God’s love. Their priority is to fulfill a duty to God, rather than to bring a fullness to others by being directed by God as an ambassador for Christ (2 Corinthians 5:20). The Levites uphold the law. This law reveals the character of Christ, yet to redeem those who have no mercy. Levi sees the need, but judges by the law, by which he has failed to live, and sends him to the other side of the bar of grace.
The Samaritan came to the dying man and showed love. His heart was filled with compassion. He was neither in a hurry nor lazy. His schedule was constrained by love. When he came into the picture, love took a risk, because love works by faith.
By chance we do not meet people in need; Instead, we come to where they are in God’s plan. Rather than resisting or delaying God’s plan, love embraces the boldness of faith and expands to give the half-dead the fullness of life.
