Determined not to know
1 Corinthians 2:2
- What is the ground for my salvation? It is that I know nothing but the cross between me and God. That is my salvation, because the cross paid for all my sins. That the cross is what I have decided to know now, as I knew the moment of salvation. A heart that is not grateful to the cross is the first sign of failure in a person. Regardless of my own spiritual temperature issues or circumstances with God, if I am overflowing with gratitude at the cross, then I will know nothing but Christ, and His crucifixion. Along with the crucifixion comes the reckoning of all glory. It may be one thing to follow the life of Christ, but it is quite another to live by and in that life, because of the full response of thanksgiving to that which is known, which brings him to the throne. Jesus Christ is always familiar with me, and I enter by a simple response of faith. It is never that I have done anything, but that I allow Him to live by me, on the basis that I have died with Him through His acquaintance with me, (2 Corinthians 5:21).
Many things can happen, but I decide not to know anything about myself except the cross. The Spirit gives you something to be determined about. Faith gives you that love that knows nothing. And Christ gives the light of life, which brings you into the midst of others, giving you a platform to live in the flesh in truth after the crucifixion.
