Christology is not just a simple theological concept; it is the backbone of our faith . It is impossible to fully understand the Christian faith without a proper understanding of Jesus Christ.

1. The Identity of Jesus Christ: Who Really Is He?

Every religion teaches something about Jesus —

  • Some say he is just a good teacher.
  • Some say he is just a prophet.
  • But the Bible places Jesus Christ at the highest of these.

According to the Bible, Jesus is fully God and fully man. (John 1:1, 14)
He is Creator, Savior, and Judge.

The virgin birth proves the divinity and holiness of Jesus.

  • The children of ordinary people cannot be free from sin.
  • Being conceived by the Holy Spirit shows His purity and uniqueness (Matthew 1:18-23).

Without the virgin birth, Christ’s atonement would have been impossible.

The real cattle (John 10:11)

  • He loves his sheep, protects them, and guides them in the right path.

The light of the world (John 8:12)

  • He brings the light of truth to a dark world.

Prince of Peace (Isaiah 9:6)

  • He gives ultimate peace in the heart, which the world cannot give.

Rock (1 Corinthians 10:4)

  • A trustworthy, solid and reliable foundation.

Crucifixion

  • Forgiveness of sin was impossible without the death of Jesus Christ (Romans 5:8).
  • He suffered death in our place, making the perfect sacrifice.

Resurrection

  • The resurrection of Jesus is proof of His deity (1 Corinthians 15:17).
  • Because he is alive, we have the hope of eternal life.

  • How Jesus Christ is understood has a direct impact on our salvation .
  • Those who do not believe in the real Jesus are more likely to wander.
  • Correct Christology strengthens our spiritual life , inspiring us to be witnesses in the world.
