Abstinence brings blessings.
- Mark 10:29-30
Shall we pay the price of discipleship? Or do we want to serve Christ by separating from the freedom without the cross and the umbrella of administration? As a spiritual image, pre-fall Adam refers to the body of Christ. As an independent Christian, Eve acts outside of her head, Adam, and enters into a fellowship with him that is both beautiful and deceptive. Satan is not clear in his attacks. His revelations test those who walk by looking. When one walks by faith, his eyes are focused on Christ. Outside of Christ, he sees only himself and the potential in Adam. A double-minded mind only gives him a vision of opportunity on both sides of the tree of knowledge. He ends up being deceived, because he does what he thinks is right instead of keeping an eye on Christ’s leadership.
Don’t be fooled by the outward appearance of Christianity. Christ has called us to forsake everything and make Him our priority (Luke 14:33). Whether we follow the message of those words or not, it always shows our destiny on earth. Do we win eyes from men or souls for Christ? Will we be disciples from the cross or will we understand our concept of Christianity? Are we going to be comfortable in the resting place of our choice or are we going to do as Christ did where there is no hiding place up to our heads? If you have security on earth, you will not need God. We brought nothing into this world and we will bring nothing (Job 1:21). Forsaking all will bring blessings a hundredfold (Mark 10:29-30).
