A Life Shaped by Pain, Faith, and Unshakeable Hope
Mr. Padam Rumba was born on April 28, 1956, Dharan in a humble family where life was simple but filled with love. No one knew that this little child would one day walk through unimaginable pain, rise above every circumstance, and become a living testimony of God’s grace.
When he was only four years old, tragedy struck his home. On June 6, 1966, his father passed away suddenly in the Arun River. His mother was pregnant, his elder brother was only seven, and Padam was too young to understand the weight of such loss — yet this moment became the first shaping force of his journey.
His mother became both father and mother, carrying unbearable burdens alone. Poverty followed them like a shadow. The villagers did not trust them; people looked down on them, refused to buy and sell goods from them, and treated them as though they had nothing to offer. In those days, traditional systems like Dharni, Bisauli, and Aathpol held strong influence — and poor families like theirs were often ignored.
But even in that darkness, a quiet strength began to grow inside the young Padam.
A Childhood of Tears, Hunger, and Unbreakable Courage
Growing up, Padam Rumba did not have the privilege of normal schooling. While other children went to school with books in their hands and dreams in their eyes, he stood at a distance — wishing, longing, but unable to join them.
There was no one to support his education, no money, no guidance.
At 17 years of age, seeing other children in uniform stirred a deep desire in his heart:
“I also want to study.”
One day he walked to the school — only to find the classes already over. Yet he did not give up. The next year he applied for admission and began studying from Grade 1 at an age when others were already in high school.
Despite countless challenges he passed Grades 1 to 3, and later continued up to Grade 6 and 7, performing well. But irregular schooling, family responsibilities, and poverty eventually forced him to stop when he reached Grade 9.
By the age of 24, he became the main pillar of the entire family — carrying responsibilities far beyond his years.
The Turning Point: Encountering the Living Christ
Although his family had already come to faith around 1982–83, Padam Rumba had not yet believed.
But in 1985, during the month of Bhadra, a light broke through his life.
He placed his trust in Lord Jesus Christ, and his entire direction changed.
He began attending fellowship at Dharan Holy Church, and later the Anugrah Mandali nurtured him, discipled him, and helped him grow spiritually. His heart burned to serve God and share the hope he had found.
Nine Days in Custody — Standing for the Gospel
During the king’s rule in 1988–89, Padam Rumba and his elder brother were arrested for sharing the Gospel. For nine long days they were kept in police custody along with central communist leaders.
Yet even inside the cell, Padam did not deny Christ.
A local member, Mani Kumar Rai, and the secretary of the village council intervened, explaining to the DSP:
“These men are not harming anyone.
They are poor, simple people.
They only believe in God; they are not spreading religion forcefully.
These accusations are false.”
By God’s grace, Padam and his brother were released.
Later the same year, in Kartik 2045 (Oct–Nov 1988), during political tensions, the police forced Padam and others to stand before a temple idol.
The DSP ordered them to bow.
But Padam Rumba refused.
In front of police officers, he lifted his eyes toward heaven and prayed:
“O God of Heaven, open their hearts.
Help them know the One true Creator.
We bow only before You.”
Even the officers who watched were moved.
God’s power stood stronger than every threat.
Once again, Padam and his companions were released unharmed, protected by God’s mighty hand.
He walked out of custody with greater boldness, deeper faith, and unshakeable commitment to the Gospel.
A Life That Inspires Generations
Mr. Padam Rumba’s life is a testimony that—
poverty cannot stop destiny,
loss cannot silence faith,
and suffering cannot destroy purpose.
His story teaches us that:
Faith grows strongest in hardship.
God lifts the humble.
No circumstance is too dark for His grace.
The person the world rejects, God selects.
Today, his life continues to inspire countless people — a reminder that God uses broken lives to shine His greatest glory.

The Blessed Gift of Family and the Burdens of Responsibility
After entering the Christian faith and serving God with a sincere heart, Mr. Padam Rumba stepped into a new chapter of life. Around 1989–90, he entered into holy marriage, beginning a journey filled with love, responsibility, struggle, and divine blessings.
On March 6, 1991, God blessed him with a son, Yohwan Rumba.
In 1992–93, a precious daughter, Eunice, was born.
And on January 7, 1995, the youngest daughter, Melina, entered the world, completing a beautiful family of five.
Yet behind this beautiful picture was a father who fought every day to give his children a future he never had.
Education, food, clothing, and shelter — everything required sacrifice, tears, and unwavering determination.
He worked tirelessly, believing:
“If I suffer today, my children will stand strong tomorrow.”
The Children Grow – And God Opens Their Future
Years passed, and by God’s grace:
- His son married on December 5, 2016, and today he and his wife work together in Dubai.
- His daughter Eunice married on February 3, 2018, now living in the United Kingdom, having successfully completed her MBBS and working professionally.
- His youngest daughter Melina is married, blessed with a one-year-old child, and currently lives in Dharan.
With deep gratitude, the family testifies:
“We have a beautiful family, not because of our strength,
but because of God’s grace, mercy, and never-failing love.”
The Struggles of a Father — From a Small Tea Shop to Foreign Lands
After marriage, around 2051 B.S. (1994–95 A.D.), he began a small snack shop in Dharan-11.
But income was insufficient.
Struggles increased.
Responsibility grew heavier.
So, with a courageous heart, he left home and went to Singapore, spending four years working tirelessly for his family’s future.
He returned home once, only to leave again — this time to Malaysia on July 7, 2001.
There he worked in multiple professions:
Truck driving
Other heavy vehicle jobs
Various labor works
Long, exhausting hours
These years were filled with sacrifice, sweat, and perseverance.
Everything he earned was poured into his children’s education, home, and future.
During this time, he also faced the heartbreaking loss of his beloved mother.
Family responsibilities increased more than ever.
Rising from Nothing — Building a Successful Business in Malaysia
Later, he took his wife to Malaysia, and together they started a restaurant business.
By God’s overflowing grace, their business grew far beyond expectation.
Not one, not two —
but six restaurants were successfully operated under his leadership.
In Pacaklang, Malaysia, he provided employment to 18–20 workers, including cooks and waiters.
Each worker served with honesty and loyalty.
This success allowed him to:
Educate his children
Pay off all debts
Build houses and properties
Establish his family’s future on a strong foundation
To this he says:
“This was not my strength.
This was God’s hand of grace.”
A 64-Year-Old Student — God’s Amazing Plan
Today, at the age of 64, Mr. Padam Rumba is a B.Th. student at Mountain Life Bible College.
He never imagined he would study theology at this age.
He never planned it.
He never dreamed it.
But God had a higher plan.
Because of his presence in Dharan, Greater Grace Church missionaries came to his home, stayed with him, and started ministry work — planting churches, sharing the Gospel, and expanding God’s kingdom.
Only then did he realize:
“I have not come here by accident.
God has a divine purpose for my life.”
He was once confused, discouraged, and purposeless —
but today he stands with confidence, knowing that God wants to use him for greater works.
With tears and passion, he encourages every heart:
“Wherever you are,
whatever you are doing —
your situation cannot stop God’s purpose.
Serve Him without fear.
Share the Gospel boldly.”
He adds:
- Open your hands for God’s kingdom.
- Support mission work.
- Pray earnestly.
- Preach the Gospel.
- Because millions are going to eternal destruction without Christ.
“We are placed in this world to shine, to witness, and to save others through the Gospel of Christ.”
“As long as God keeps me in this world,
I want to glorify Him with every breath.
I want to finish my race serving the Lord.
There is no greater purpose than this.”
He thanks God endlessly:
“Thank You, Lord — for Your grace,
Your mercy,
Your calling,
and Your eternal purpose for my life.
Forever be Your glory. Amen.”
The life story of this humble servant of God is not merely a biography—it is a living testimony of grace, perseverance, sacrifice, and unwavering faith. From the early struggles of childhood, the responsibilities of a broken home, the weight of poverty, and the pain of separation, to the courage of starting over again and again in Singapore and Malaysia, his journey reflects one profound truth: When God holds a life, no circumstance can destroy His purpose.
His story is the story of a man who walked through storms but never allowed the storms to live inside him. It is the story of a father who carried the heavy burden of raising children with dignity and education, a husband who embraced responsibility with sacrifice, and a believer who discovered that God is always writing a bigger story than we can see.
His years in Malaysia—working, building, leading, and later establishing multiple restaurants—were not just about earning money. They were about shaping a testimony of God’s faithfulness. Even in the most difficult seasons—loss of his mother, financial struggles, countless responsibilities—God’s hand never left him. Every debt paid, every struggle overcome, every workplace blessed, every door opened—became a reminder that grace is not just a doctrine, it is a living power.
And now, at the age of 64, sitting as a BTh student at Mountain Life Bible College, he stands as a shining example that there is no “too late” in God’s kingdom. The Lord who carried him through nations, hardships, and responsibilities brought him into His calling—to serve, to build churches, to support missions, and to open his home for God’s work.
The mission directors, pastors, and evangelists who now stay in his home and minister through his hospitality are the fulfillment of God’s hidden plan. What once looked like confusion became a divine preparation. What once looked like delay became God’s perfect timing. And what once looked like ordinary life became an extraordinary calling.
Today his life speaks:
“No matter where you stand… God is not done with you.”
