Jayamsih..! Welcome to today’s devotion!
No one is greater than the least
- 1 Corinthians 12:22-27 ÷ Colossians 2:9-10
According to Jesus, John the Baptist is the greatest of those born of women (Matthew 11:11). But Jesus also says that even the least in the kingdom of heaven is greater than John the Baptist. And who is the least in the kingdom of heaven? Jesus said in Matthew 5:19, the person who breaks the least of the commandments and “teaches men to do the same”; That person will be called the least in the kingdom of heaven. But the least will be greater than John the Baptist. How does this happen?
The kingdom of God is the administration where Christ is the head. John the Baptist did not have a body. His head was Christ, but he had no administration. Because they did not have the right to an umbrella, they are less than anyone in the body (congregation). John the Baptist had no provision for the body (the church) and that is why he is not equal to even the smallest one who has an umbrella.
An example of this is the ministry of a man independent of the body of Christ. A man in the body of Christ who brings water to the pulpit one day a week is greater than a man who has a “successful” independent ministry. Even the smallest of the kingdom of God is greater than this man. If a man wants to live outside the body of Christ, he can, but he will not have real success. What the least of the kingdom of God can do will not be the full extent of it. Even the smallest pious man will be better than John the Baptist because his body of Christ, his body and bones are treasured by God.
