Ephesians 5:3 tells us,
“Let not fornication and all impurity, even the name of covetousness, be called among you…which is not fit to be among saints”. Anything that “suggests” sexual immorality is inappropriate for a Christian. The Bible does not give us a list of things that qualify as “signs” or tell us what physical actions a couple is authorized to use before marriage. While the Bible does not specifically address this issue, this does not mean that God allows “pre-sexual” acts in marriage. In essence, pre-sex is a pattern of sexual activity given to a couple to prepare for sex. Ideally, precoital sexual activity should be limited to married couples. Like anything considered pre-sexual activity,
If there is any doubt whatsoever as to whether an act is right for an unmarried couple, it should be avoided (Romans 14:23). Any and all other sexual relations and pre-sexual activities should be restricted to married couples only. An unmarried couple should refrain from any activity that might tempt them to have sex, that shows immorality, or that could be considered pre-sexual activity. Many pastors and Christian counselors strongly advise a couple that they should do nothing more than hold hands, hug and kiss each other before marriage. The more that only the married couple has to share with each other, the more special and exclusive will be the sex in that marriage.
