Book of Ruth Meditation Greetings to my dear brothers and sisters in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ. We are meditating on the scripture of Ruth. In this book, Naomi tells Ruth that she should go to Boaz at night to ask him to marry her. But before Ruth goes to Boaz, it is suggested that she should bathe, apply oil and tie her clothes. His hope is that just as Ruth is getting closer to Boaz, we also get closer to our God and Savior Jesus. For that, just as Ruth was instructed to take a bath, apply oil and put on clothes, if we want to get closer to Jesus, we too must do some things to understand him more. In Ruth 3:3, bathing means to be purified, and anointing means to be filled or anointed with the Spirit.
To be anointed.
Oil or oil is analogous to the Spirit of God. It means that you should be filled with God’s spirit or God’s Holy Spirit should live in you, which means first of all you should confess your sins. That’s why we said that we should first purify ourselves in the blood of Jesus. Also those who are filled with the Spirit should ask more. Live in obedience to the word of God. When we spend time in the Word in prayer every day we can be filled with God’s Spirit and fellowship with God the Holy Spirit and have the anointing He gives. Moreover, the spirit of God is received and it does not disappear in a short time. Be filled with God’s Spirit every day. The Holy Spirit must be in eternal fellowship with God. He gives us all power and wisdom; To live a holy life for God, who bestows understanding, thoughts and everything necessary for this spiritual life. He empowers us to do the work He has appointed us to do. That is God’s anointing.
It is written in Isaiah 61:1-3. “The Spirit of the Lord Jehovah has come upon me. Jehovah has anointed me to preach good news to the poor. He has sent me to strengthen the brokenhearted, to proclaim release to the captives, release to the captives, to comfort all who mourn, to clothe those who mourn in Zion with gladness, to give them ashes for ashes, the oil of joy for sorrow, and the garment of praise for the heaviest soul.” Whenever we are filled with the Spirit and led by His Spirit, the Spirit brings us closer to God. Thus the blessings written above will come.
To be decorated
It is written that after bathing, anointing, and dressing. Clothes or garments serve to cover us and adorn us. Depending on one’s clothes, one’s vision is different. God himself gives us some clothes. In the same chapter 61 verse 10 “He has clothed me with the garments of salvation, like a bridegroom decked in a lovely garment, like a bride decked in jewels”, He has clothed me with the robe of righteousness. How valuable and beautiful the garments are, we can also see in the 3rd verse the garments of cheerfulness and the garments of praise. These are the garments that God gives us when we are sanctified and filled with His Spirit. In turn, these clothes are what make God’s attention on us and make us worthy to approach Him. That’s why God’s protection, righteousness and happiness should be preserved. He should be praising more.decorationIt means that mostly women adorn their outer body. Therefore, this adornment should not be on the upper body, but on the inside, it is written in 1 Peter 3:3-5. “You should not be an external adornment like braiding, wearing gold jewelry, or wearing clothes, but the inner nature of your heart, which is pure and gentle, should be your adornment. It is precious in God’s sight. In the same way they adorned themselves by submitting to their own husbands the holy women who had taken refuge before God.” What a wonderful decoration. We are told how to adorn ourselves before God and how to adorn ourselves before our husbands. Also in 1 Timothy 2:9 “And let the women be humble and of a sober mind, and not adorning themselves with fine ornaments, or with braids, or gold, or pearls, Should women who claim to be pious adorn themselves with virtues? When Ruth went to Boaz, whether she was wearing very beautiful clothes or not, she was adorned with an inner beauty such as gentleness and humility that made her even more beautiful. That is what brought her to Bhoja. According to this, our nature or our qualities change and change into Jesus’ personality is to adorn ourselves with clothes that are pleasing to God.
If you hope to get closer to God, to be sanctified, to be filled with the Spirit , and to have a new nature, the promise of God’s grace is written in Ezekiel 36:25-27. “I will sprinkle clean water on you so that all your impurity will be gone, and I will remove all the impurity you have from your idols. A new heart will be given to you, a new nature will be given to you, a heart of stone will be removed from you and a heart of flesh will be given to you. “I will make you of my spirit and of you who obey my commandments and keep my duties”, may God fulfill this promise in the lives of those who seek it! Amen.
