A love that draws closer.
- Hebrews 13:5
When the rooster crowed, Peter cursed himself. When we live under the curse of Adam, then the rooster crows. When we fight and argue and there is no peace with us, then we hear the rooster crowing. A rooster is always ready to roost. When Peter drew himself away, Jesus Christ drew near to Peter. Peter saw Prem’s eyes come closer as he pulled himself away. Our going away will not stop Jesus from coming closer. We allow him to come near so that the rooster does not live for us. While they were fishing in the boat, love came near again, for cold hearts and cold bodies, love was preparing the flames. The two who were on the road to Emmaus (the wandering road) met a stranger. It came unknowingly while they were far away in their hearts. The apostle John, who was tired and old, on the island of Patmos, received a wonderful revelation as Christ drew near.
To know a God who always draws near is to know a God who has a perfect plan. We are sure that He will accomplish the work in us because, even when we go far, He is always faithful to come near. Even in our weaknesses, weaknesses, and failures we can always find eternal rest in the Lamb; A shepherd who never leaves us, who always meets us where we are.
Even after the rooster crows, we can see Christ as our faithful shepherd. Eternally so is the Lamb, enthroned with gentleness that draws near and power that never fails.
