Jayamsih! Welcome to today’s devotion.
The Lamb slain from the foundation of the world
Revelation 13:8
- “In this is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us” (1 John 4:10). God does it all, and we allow Him. Before we were born in sin, God placed us in Him holy and blameless (Ephesians 1:4). How can God the Father see us that way? Because Jesus Christ was the Lamb slain before the foundation of the world. Before we were born, He knew, based on foreknowledge, that we would accept Him.
Therefore, He looked at us in terms of eternal reward and was able to inculcate righteousness in us even before we were born. The Lord said to Jeremiah: “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you; And before you came forth from the womb I sanctified and appointed you” (Jeremiah 1:5). Because of the foreknowledge of Jeremiah’s decision, this is what the Lord said.
There was a Lamb from the beginning of the world, that we might be the Light of Genesis. Jesus Christ went to the cross by the power of the Eternal Spirit, He was crucified mentally and emotionally, long before the crucifixion of Golgotha. He represented the living cross. Just like we consider ourselves dead after going to the cross, Jesus Christ considered himself dead before the cross.
Yaqub was blessed on the basis of what someone else had done for him. Jacob did not love God, but because of what the Lamb had done for Jacob from the beginning of the world (Numbers 23:20-21). Although we are not without sin (1 John 1:8), we are without guilt because He took our guilt and became guilty before the foundation of the world.
